How to Apply

A fully completed application form is essential to enable the Trustees of the John Bagley Music Trust to fairly assess each request for funding.

Applicants should ensure that all sections of the form are completed clearly and accurately, and that all relevant supporting documents are included.

Providing detailed information about the proposed project, its musical aims, anticipated public benefit, and financial requirements helps the Trustees understand how the application aligns with the charitable objectives of the Trust.

Incomplete applications or applications lacking sufficient supporting information may be delayed or may not be considered until further details are provided. Applicants are therefore encouraged to provide as much relevant information as possible, including budgets, artistic plans, quotations, biographies, and evidence of other funding where applicable.

The Trustees meet quarterly to review applications for funding. Each application is carefully considered against the aims of the Trust, with particular regard to artistic quality, public benefit, financial need, and the promotion of classical and contemporary music of high aesthetic merit. Priority may be given to projects benefiting the City and County of Nottingham, although applications from elsewhere in the United Kingdom may also be considered.

In assessing applications, the Trustees may request additional information, offer full or partial funding, or decline applications that fall outside the Trust’s charitable objectives or available resources. All decisions are made at the discretion of the Trustees following their quarterly review meetings
